Movie Review: THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT (2004)

“The Butterfly Effect (2004)”

Technically the "Butterfly Effect", means the "sensitive dependence on initial conditions". And whole movie revolve around this theory.
Directors: Eric Bress, J. Mackye Grubers
Cast: Ashton Kutcher, Amy Smart and other brilliant actors sorry I couldn’t name them all.

Even before starting to comment on film, guys this is one of the must watch movies and not only to watch but also for archiving it’s DVD. Its thrilling experience to watch this movie. Well written, well directed, brilliantly acted film. Film always keeps you guessing what’s next, keeps you interested all the time. So bravo for cast and crew, director, producer, technicians everyone.
This is a story of a boy growing up in a small town with his single working mom and his friends. He suffers from memory blackouts and more importantly something bad always seems to happen during these blackouts. He has habit of writing all these incidents down as much as he can remember. As he grows up it gets lesser until he seems to have recovered. One day at college he starts to read one of his old diaries, and suddenly a flashback hits him and he can recollect what happened in one of those blackouts. Not only that he also finds the way change the things all over again and fix things again. But how much hw tries to fix the things situation always worsen. And he finds himself in big mess and in Asylum where his father used to be for same reasons.

Every frame of this film is so thought of, its amazingly brilliant story, brilliant editing and it has perfect pace to keep drama going. All the actors gets opportunity to play so many different shades in single roles and they does it so effortlessly not only by appearance, facial expression, accent but also with body language. This movie has little bit of everything drama, romance, comedy, psychedelic fantasy, science fiction.

In the end you might feel that it is just imagination, a fantasy but the theory stays with you successfully. Like when I thinks today I am an engineer but in my teens if I had decide to be a Doctor or a Banker or anyone else for each condition my life would have been so much different. My friends, my workplace, even the way I think now, would have been so much different that I won’t have recognize myself. What do you think?
As for rating I’ll give 10/10 points.

Don’t forget to watch it. I heard there is sequel to this I can’t wait to watch it.
